Words and music by Andrew Dutney.
Written for NCYC 1979, Perth, to accompany Bible studies by Colville Crowe.

lyrics

We've got so much to be thankful for.
We've come so far, though not on our own.
We have received from God's storehouse
riches unnumbered,
riches unheard of.
We've all become children of God.

We've all been gathered into the family.
We've all been grafted onto the tree.
The question is:
Do you think of our happy little community
as a basket of flowers
or as buds on the tree?
We're children of God.

You might be right in saying we're a motley crowd.
We grovel in our failures,
our humanity cries out loud.
But believe it or not
that same power is in this lot
that raised our Lord from the grave.

We have no history to speak of.
We're probably all just fools born of fools.
But out of his mercy God has given us
riches unnumbered,
riches unheard of.
We've all become children of God.
